Notcot.org - best of web findings

Notcot has been set as my browser homepage for a few years now. For those of you that have never checked out the site, I highly recommend that you do. The site is straight forward, you find cool/unusual things online and submit to the site. Only the best actually make it to the front page (I've been honored with 10 blog postings making there way on the site). Today Noncot brought their A-game having some very cool stuff that I felt compelled enough to post about.

Neenah Paper Clips

I got the latest Communication Arts a week ago and usually the first thing I do is go through and rip out all the paper stock ads since there usually super thick pages. In this edition there is an ad for Neenah Paper with actual "paper clips" that you can punch out. 12 per sheet, excellent green idea.

Magritte/Dali inspired adds

German agency DDB looked to the art world, specifically to acclaimed surrealists Magritte and Dali, as the inspiration for the adds for the new Volkswagen Polo Blue Motion.
The campaign slogan: "Absurdly low consumption".

Cool Ads

I collect a lot of ads from the internet when I stumble across them. I get a lot of ideas from them and they help spark my creativity. Here are a few of the latest finds:

Rolling Stone Keith Richards models for Louis Vuitton

Keith Richards, the legendary guitarist and songwriter, and founding member of The Rolling Stones, is the latest celebrity to feature in Louis Vuitton's advertising campaign.
Produced by Ogilvy & Mather, the campaign restates travel as the fundamental and defining value of Louis Vuitton, interpreting it as a personal journey and a process of self-discovery.

In this latest visual, photographed by Annie Leibovitz, Keith Richards is pictured cradling his guitar in a hotel room he has transformed by draping black scarves with skull motifs over the lamps and placing a skull on a bedside table.

Nike Finds its Edge with anti-Imus Ad

Ad reads:

Thank you, ignorance.

Thank you for starting the conversation.

Thank you for making an entire nation listen to the Rutger’s team story. And for making us wonder what other great stories we’ve missed.

Thank you for reminding us to think before we speak.

Thank you for showing us how strong and poised 18 and 20-year-old women can be.

Thank you for reminding us that another basketball tournament goes on in March.

Thank you for showing us that sport includes more than the time spent on the court.

Thank you for unintentionally moving women’s sport forward.

And thank you for making all of us realize that we still have a long way to go.

Next season starts 11.16.07.
