Weekend home

I made the trip up to Youngstown to see my parents this past weekend. The weather was great all and I did a lot of photography. My mother and I went to Pittsburgh for the day on Friday and I shot 6 Tiny Planets (I'll post after I get them merged). Today my father and I went to Mill Creek Park and I took some pics of his new GTO and the old mill. Enjoy.

Mom's B-day gift

My mother wanted 3 b&w framed images for her birthday so I decided to go abstract. Theses are some light writing images I did awhile back. Whatcha think?

Glass Octopus from West Elm

West Elm finally opened the other day in Easton adding to the collection of home furnishing stores. We currently have:
Crate & Barrel
Restoration Hardware
Design within Reach (... the reach of rich people)
Pottery Barn
Z Gallery

While browsing in West Elm, I found the perfect addition for my fish bowl, a glass octopus. This little guy cost $20 and is the perfect companion for my beta fish (which I named Fang). They had some other cool glass marine life like puffer fish & crabs but their not on elms website.

LEGO Grass Planters

After getting a lot of feedback on the LEGO Park Planters I did a few weeks ago, I decided to take the idea further and create other "vignettes." Here's a few images of the Grass Planter series I'm starting. These two examples are just normal pots with wheat grass. I went with wheat grass because it's very easy to grow and has bold color and thick blades (cat grass can also be used). White LEGO bricks were used to create an artistic feel. I have two more grass planters in the works along with a zen garden one that I will be posting in the coming weeks.

New Fish
The other day I was wondering around Zgallery on my lunch break and found this awesome little fish bowl. I haven't had a fish since I was a kid so I figured it was time to get another one. I went with a beta fish because they don't poop as much at goldfish.

Tiny Church
You know how you'll be driving on the highway and you'll see something cool and wonder what side roads you would have to take to get there? Well, for the past year or so ever time I head down towards Athens OH, I pass this old church that sits up on a hillside that looks like it should be in a movie or something. So the other day I scouted some back roads on google earth to find it. I think it made a cool tiny planet.
