Poorhouse

I was off today and decided that after I got my hair cut, that I would go try to find some interesting places to photograph. I drove around for a few hours and found nothing. In those few hours, I drove through "Bangs" OH. I remember reading something about Bangs awhile back but couldn't recall what abandoned structure was there. Soon as I got home I hopped online and checked out Forgottenoh.com. Sure enough there was and abandoned building lurking in Bangs. It was an old poorhouse built in 1875. The building is 40,000 sf and at the time it ranked as one of the largest buildings in the country.

I mapped it and it was only 30min from where I live, so I got back in my car and headed to the poorhouse. When I got there, there were two trucks parked on the front lawn of the house. They soon left, but I wasn't about to go inside. I didn't know if there were alarms or if they were coming back soon.

I walked around and took some pictures. From what I've seen on other websites, I wasn't missing much by not getting inside.

Borat

I just came back from seeing Borat. I haven't laughed so hard since the first time I watched "Dumb & Dumber"

The movie starts off kinda dull, then picks up once Borat arrives in the "US of the A." My favorite part is when he's trying to buy a SUV, and of course at the end when he encounters Pamela Anderson. If you have a good sense of humor and don't offend easy then you have to see this movie. I can't wait to see it again.

Fractals

I've been getting a lot of feed back about the fractals that I recently posted. The program I use is Apophysis 2.05 beta (it's a free program). The program is only available for PC so I'm forced to use my 5 year old Gateway laptop to do all the renderings (since I'm all MAC based). The PC only has 256 ram and 6GB and it takes 3-7hrs to do a render depending on the size. Tons of information can be found on deviantart.com including tutorials and sample "flames" (that's the name of all the pretty pictures). While your checking out deviantart, be sure to take a look at my gallery.

At home with Apophysis

I'm home visiting my parents for the weekend. I had some free time, so here's some more Apophysis renderings for ya:

IdeaAttic.com

I have my new site up and running. The old site was done in Dreamweaver and took me close to a month to do. The second one was done in iWeb and took about 6 hours. The new site has a similar feel to it and everything (except the logo) was recreated. If you have a few minutes, check out the new site and tell me what ya think. (you may have to hit your reload button, I'm working on the problem)

What I've been up to

In the past few days I redid my entire website (IdeaAttic, not the bobblog). It's 95% complete and I'll probably launch it in a few days after all the kinks are out of it. I've also been working on doing more fractals. For those of you unfamiliar with fractals, their images that are generated by mathematical equations. Each takes 4-6 hours to render. I'm fairly pleased with the results.

Updating

I know the posts have been sparse. I've been working a lot of hours and nothing new has happened. I'm off today and I'm planning on doing major updates to IdeaAttic.com and adding a new section to the "xtra stuff" (right side of the blog).

I've been putting off updating IdeaAttic for over a year. I created the site in Dreamweaver and it's just a pain in the ass to update. When iWeb came out last year, I got spoiled and have been using that program to add bits and pieces to my blog, most of witch should have been added to my portfolio site long ago.
